巻頭特集の 『愛情いっぱいの手仕事』にて、HIKARU NOGUCHIデザインのミツバチ柄のシェットランド毛糸使用のマフラーと帽子、ベリー（実）模様を編み込んだのシェットランド毛糸使用の深緑のプルオーバーと三角スカーフが10ページ、11ページに掲載されています。
この特集は、編み込みやアラン模様の上に、さらに刺繍やスティッチを重ねてみましょうという提案。それでなくても時間と手間のかかる手編みの編み込みなので、手編み上級者でないと尻込みしたくなる様な特集ですが、この特集で掲載されている様々なデザイナーの刺繍やスティッチは、市販のニットやお手持ちのニットに装飾するアイディアにも使えそうです。

Hikaru writes about the South African Knit designer Laduma Ngxokolo in the Autumn 2015 issue of Keitodama.
The Autumn 2015 issue of Keitodama, one of the world’s leading knitting magazines, is now on sale. For this issue, Hikaru has written an article about the South African knitwear designer Laduma Ngxolo. Laduma started his own fashion brand MAXHOSA straight after his successful degree show at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Port Elizabeth in South Africa, and he now lives in London. Hikaru saw his degree show and counts it as one of the few truly unforgettable student degree shows she has seen – probably the best since seeing Wakako KISHIMOTO’s (of ELEY KISHIMOTO) degree show. MAXHOSA uses very special yarn – South African merino wool mixed with South Africa mohair, produced by a local knitting mill. The textures of Laduma’s knitwear are very smooth and one cannot see any of the characteristic fluffiness of mohair at all. “The wool and mohair fuse together and after being worn, the mohair fibre slowly starts to appear on the surface,” he remarked. He creates beautiful geometric patterns, with garments which will age to take on the unique character of their wearer and their environment, which is quite amazing.
好評発売中 毛糸だま 2015年秋号 No.167にて野口光執筆の 『南アフリカから世界へ発信するモヘア －ダイヤモンドファイバーを知り尽くす男 ラドゥマンココロさん』が掲載されています。 野口が2012年のラドゥマさんのネルソンマンデラ メトロポリタン大学の卒業制作ファッションショーを見て以来、注目している男性デザイナー。「イギリスのブランド、イーリー キシモトのデザイナー、岸本若子さんの卒業制作ファッションショーも忘れられませんが、ラドゥマさんの卒業制作のコレクションも同様に感動的なものでした」と野口は語ります。 ラドゥマさんの故郷、南アフリカ東ケープ州はモヘア毛糸の原毛の世界一の産地ということもあり、ラドゥマさんは学生時代から最高級モヘアをニットの作品にふんだんに使っていました。 主宰するファッションブランド MAXHOSAでは南アフリカ産のメリノウール80％、モヘア20％というオリジナルブレンドのさらりとした手触りの毛糸を使用しています。 「着てゆくうちに、ゆっくりとモヘアの繊維が起毛されてくる、そんな変化を楽しんでもらいたいです」と語るラドゥマさん。モヘアといえばフワフワの起毛テクスチュアを連想しますが、そんなモヘアの楽しみ方があるのか！と野口の驚きが伝わるページとなっています。
Hikaru writes about Susannah Hunter in the summer 2015 issue of Quilts Japan
QUILTS JAPAN 2015 SUMMER issue is now on sale.
In this issue of Hikaru’s very popular “World of Hand Work” feature, Hikaru visited the shop and workshop of botanically-inspired leather goods designer, Susannah Hunter in Lambs Conduit Street in London.
Susannah and Hikaru both used to have workshop spaces in Cockpit Workshops which has been a creative incubator for new designers and makers who would like to start their own business since the 1980s.
Susannah’s shop / workshop are five minutes’ walk from Cockpit and I was really amazed to see how Lambs Conduit Street has changed over the last ten years. It has become very trendy and fashionable – no more charity shops! Anyhow, Susannah’s leather handbags are now well established and she has also done some interesting big projects like creating a garden space using her Botanical Leather applique technique for the Chelsea Flower Show in 2013 and 2014. All her products are made in her workshop below the shop by trained craftsmen who lay out, layer and then stitch all the tiny leather petals and leaves one by one.
The sewing machine stiches are like an artist drawing a fine line.
I have been very lucky to see Susannah’s efforts to maintain and enhance the world of high standard beautifully designed products over the last 15 years. I am looking forward to see the development of her work over the next 15 years.

スザンナさんは野口が1992年から2007年まで工房を構えていた、コックピット アートという、新人デザイナークラフト作家を支援する工房団地にて部屋が隣同士という時期があったことがありました。スザンナさん
主宰のブランド スザンナ ハンターのイングリッシュガーデンを髣髴させる花鳥風月柄をレザーのアップリケで1つずつ作り上げているスタイルは、過去に何度も類似商品が巷に出たものの、手間隙がかかり、職人の技術だけではなく、センスも必要なので、コピー商品メーカーも太刀打ちがゆかないようです。
スザンナ ハンターのバッグを持っただけで、全身が、花束を抱きしめたかのような華かになるので、シンプルな白いシャツに着古しのデニムといったセレブの‘休日スタイルの定番バック’として支持されています。
記事では、2013年、14年にチェルシーフラワーショーにて、レザーアップリケで作り上げた庭のエピソードなども盛り込まれています。

Quilts Japan Spring 2015 Issue now on sale
In this issue, Hikaru writes about Rohan Chhabra who is increasingly recognised as an up-and-coming creator specialising in endanger animal issues. One of his most famous works uses a safari jacket and re-forms it into endangered animals like the Elephant, Rhino and Gorilla. He has been invited to show this series of work at many design festivals around the world. I really like his smart and humorous way of expressing and highlighting complicated issues surrounding endangered species.

インド人のクリエーター ローハン チャバラさんの特集です。ローハンさんは、デリーとロンドンの美術大学で勉強後、オランダのナイキ本社でデザイナーとして働き、その後自然保護をテーマとしたクリエーションで、世界各地のデザイン賞を受賞した注目の新人作家です。代表作は、ごく普通のカーキのサファリジャケットが、絶滅の危機に瀕するサイや象、ゴリラに変身するというもの。とかく血なまぐさくなりがちな動物保護問題をユーモアとアイディアに溢れたスマートな表現で訴えています。

In this issue, Hikaru writes about the Embroidered Soft Toy brand, HEARTWORKS in South Africa
It is amazing to see these adorable soft toys by HEARTWORKS – Teddy Bears, Monkeys, Rhinos and Heart Cushions which are more like collectable decorative objects than soft cuddly children’s toys. Each piece has completely unique applique and embroidery. I also love HEARTWORKS because they employ many home workers who are struggling ladies from poor backgrounds, working hard to build lives for themselves and support many members of their families. This is a very typical African ethical business production background. But HEARTWORKS doesn’t demand charity. All their home workers work hard together, aiming to create a high standard of creative, attractive products. Congratulations to HEARTWORKS.

南アフリカ、ケープタウンをベースに展開する刺繍、アップリケ工房 ハートワークスを取材しました。
ハートワークスが作るテディベア、サル、サイ、ハート型クッションには、全面にみっちりとカラフルなアップリケや刺繍が施されています。それらの模様はどれ一つ同じものがありません。アップリケや刺繍はアフリカの村の生活や、花鳥風月といったモチーフが、フリーハンドで描かれていて、味わい深いものがあります。「私がこの工房を取材した理由は、商品のクオリティの高さからです。
取材を通じて、ハートワークスがアフリカの多くの手工芸団体にありがちな‘貧しい女性達の自立の助け’といったエシカルサポートと言う側面をうたい文句にしていないことに気がつきました。
内職の女性達が競い合うように美しい模様を生み出す。心意気の熱いクリエーター集団ということにとても感動しました。」と野口は語ります。他所では見られないハートワークスの模様やテクニックを紹介するチャンスを探りたいです。

In this issue, Hikaru writes about the knitwear exhibition “Chanel to Westwood” at the Fashion & Textile Museum in London (19 September 2014 – 18 January 2015) on the Keitodama World News page. From the birth of the industrial revolution until recent years, Britain was one of the world’s leading textile producing nations. Knitting was part of this industry and the development of new machines and techniques were driven by the latest fashion trends. Always, when people talk about fashions and trends, the fashion designers and the culture of the time are seen as key determining issues. This ignores the aspect of industrial development, which is just as important in driving trends. I was glad to see that this exhibition drew strong connections between industry and fashion trends.
毛糸だま2015年春号 巻頭ページ ワールドニュースに、野口光によるロンドンのファッション＆デザイン博物館で開催された「ニットウェア シャネルからウエストウッドまで」（2014年9月19日から2015年1月18日まで）のレポートが掲載されています。
産業革命から近年まで、イギリスは世界の繊維産業のリーダー的存在でした。20世紀初頭から現代まで時代時代を代表するスタイルを順々にディスプレーしたこの展覧会。
各時代ごとのファッションの流行は、その時代を代表するカリスマ的なデザイナーや社会、文化の影響はもちろん、その時に開発された素材や機械の発達と深い関係があることが再確認できる内容でした。
また春号の「ソックニッティングに夢中」大特集では、はき口から編み始めるトップダウン という珍しいテクニックの紹介ページ（P18）にて野口 光デザインのソックス2作品が掲載されています。
